Actually, comparing the aluminum bat and the wood bat (Ash or Maple) in baseball is not a good comparison - the fact that the baseball is a static piece of the puzzle, and that the golf ball reacts differently because of loft and launch angle, not to mention the shaft, gives the argument several nuances that are not reductive. Simply put, it is not an apt comparison simply because it is wood vs. metal. As far as the clarification, I do not know what the writer's intent was, but old vs. new persimmon is mainly a function of old shafts vs. new shafts - shafts have come a long way and are now lighter and longer.

I was in the golf store buying double sided tape to regrip some irons, so i started to play with some of the used clubs they had. When you get use to hitting persimmon, it really sounds odd to hit an old titanium driver no matter what the size. They just do not feel the same.

Josh,
I love your point but I believe you missed the mark ever so slightly. You see, I have been chasing Excalibur and finally found the magic in my 10X putter and Niblicks. It was Louisville Golf that made the technological changes for me to play my best golf in years! Your new shafts, new head designs, new putter face have allowed me to enjoy the game more while unfortunately, playing less. No other company allows me to have the one on one contact and support. Keep the focus and keep innovating! Thanks for being there for us, Chris Mundy, Gainesville, GA
