The grip is genuine, hand-wrapped leather. The deep rich color of the hickory shaft is achieved by using gilsonite, the same material that was used on original Hickory shafts. The shafts are then finished with shellac, just like the originals. Even the pitched linen whipping thread on the neck and grip is authentic to the period. Although these irons make great collectibles and gifts, they were built to be taken to the course and played; they can be played with the modern golf ball.
