This club is a replica of a J. Wilson transitional driver. This club was brought in for refurbishing, but the owner, Dave Booth, allowed us to replicate it so the original could be left in its original condition. There were many Wilson’s making clubs in the UK in the 19th century, but J. Wilson is listed as working in St. Andrews. He was trained as an apprentice to Hugh Philip until he opened his own shop. The transitional head shape is slightly shorter, and a little wider, than the Long Nose.
Transitional Driver Features: * 15 degrees * Solid Persimmon head * Authentic Hickory shaft * Pitched linen whipping * Splice neck connection * Calfskin grip
Approved for play in the National Hickory Championship and other pre-1900 tournaments by the Society of Hickory Golfers.
