The Ginty was designed in 1973 by well known clubmaker Stan Thompson. Stan watched Ben Hogan hit a 2 iron out of deep rough at the U.S. Open and thought to himself, “the average golfer will never be able to make that shot.”
Years later Stan watched a speed boat pass him with the keel cutting easily through the water. He realized the potential of the keel and developed a keel bottom Ginty. The soleplate is thick and heavy which lowers the center of gravity making it easy to get the ball into the air.
